Overview:

2017 Infiniti QX70

When the legends fall, there is a mist of sorrow all around. But when a common man falls, just the ones closed to him fell sorrow.

The lateral example is the case with the Infiniti QX70. It has entered in its final year, and soon it will be discontinued. Well, there is no news about the next generation of this car. It seems like, Nissan has to kill this SUV due to market conditions. By the way, the QX70 is not sold in Japan. Even none of the models of Nissan are based on this SUV.

The QX70 was introduced in 2013 as the replacement for the Infiniti FX. Actually, that was just the change of the titles. Otherwise, everything else is same on both cars. That was the second generation for the FX, while the first for the QX70. The QX70 is indirectly the successor of the QX4 which was discontinued way back in 2002.

A number of folks love SUVs. Even we love SUVs. And one of the major reason for loving an SUV is its off-road driving capability. Why would anyone boast on the streets using a mountain climber? Why would not he get something elegant or luxury at the same price? But everyone who got the QX70 for the sake of off-road driving kept on complaining about the driving abilities of this car.

The QX70 is based on a sports coupe. It shares the platform of a car that can run 0-62 mph in a blink. But that would never climb mountains. And the same happened with the QX70, that it can run fast, move aggressively and show massive power. But when you place it around a hill, it would start crying.

Well, let’s explore this cry-baby.

Performance:

Hood of 2017 Infiniti QX70

The performance of the Infiniti QX70 on the urban roads is really cool. It moves fast, turns out a good rev but the hills have eyes. This is what the Infiniti QX70 says.

The QX70 comes with a 3.7 L V6 engine. The engine is rated at 325 hp of power and 267 lb-ft of torque. Further, the standard driving configuration is the rear – wheel – drive. While an optional all-wheel-drive is also available.

This powertrain is available with the 7-speed adaptive shift control transmission system. In the cities and on the highways, it tends to roll this car with maximum torque. But when the hill starts, the performance begins to fall. And you barely reach the peak.

Indeed, if Infiniti would have added the off-road driving abilities in this SUV, it would have ranked higher in its class. But with such performance, it is one of the least chosen vehicles. Well, it is hard to understand that why Nissan would create a track rated SUV. While all of its competitors have some ability to climb the mountains.

With this specification, the Infiniti QX70 reached the 0-60 mph mark in 6.0 seconds. Further, its top speed is rated at 140 mph.

Well, the handling is fine. It steers smoothly, but it is not much quicker. Braking is even fine. It stopped in 171 feet from 70-0 mph. Certainly, this is an average type of response from a sporty SUV.

The sports material enthusiasts would love this car. It has ample acceleration and a splendid speed. But the off-road lovers would jump into a different SUV. It is the entirely different type of perspective. We have witnessed such SUVs before as well. But none of them reported a good market response.

Exterior:

The Infiniti QX70 shares a pretty similar design with its sibling sedans. The front grille design is exactly the same as those in the other cars of Infiniti. But the headlamp trim makes it look aggressive.

The fender vents are installed behind the hose of the front wheels. Well, the front seems like it has no application of the aerodynamics. But the headlamp sockets give much room for the wind distraction. Then the slanting roof offers some room for sliding the wind behind. At the rear, there is a spoiler that makes the wind to give a downward thrust on the car.

The cosmetics are fine. The design is even quite fine. But it is not much attractive. The 18-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels are standard. Along with that, there are also some optional designs available for the wheels.

Interior:

Interior of 2017 Infiniti QX70

The interior design of the Infiniti QX70 is pretty elegant. The material has been appointed nicely. Even the ingredient is awesome. There are four different contrast levels available for the interior color. The wheat lather and black lacquer accent are standard.

Further, you can fit in 5 people in this car including the driver. There is no such trouble for the legroom and the headroom. The seating is spacious and it is like, if you fold the front passenger seat to the back, you will get a complete comfortable bedding to sleep. In Infiniti QX70, not just the front seats are heated, instead, the rear seats are heated as well.

The trunk has fine spacing for cargo. But on folding the rear seats, you get ample space to carry your luggage. While fetching in such a car is really quite easy. You would not feel congested or out of space.

Certainly, the Infiniti QX70 is quite comfortable inside. Indeed, it has been designed for long drives and journeys.

Features:

Features of 2017 Infiniti QX70

The Infiniti QX70 comes with the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Well, if you need navigation, then you will get the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. But keep in mind that it is an optional feature and it requires extra cash. Voice recognition is a handy feature in cars nowadays. But QX70 has it as optional. In busy areas, you need to have something that should keep you updated about the traffic flow. And that is even optional in this car.

Further, the Bose 11-speaker premium audio system is standard. Along with that CD player is even standard. While for the DVD you would have to spend some extra money. Bluetooth is even optional. Well, you are lucky to get the SiriusXM satellite radio as a standard feature in this car.

Safety:

2017 Infiniti QX70 Safety

One good thing about Nissan is that it does not compromise on safety. Alongside Nissan, Infiniti is even careful about the safety features of its cars. In the same way, the Infiniti QX70 has some decent score in its safety tests.

The passive safety features advanced airbags system, front seat active head restraints, emergency and automatic locking retractors. The LATCHES ensure the children safety.

The active safety features include the rearview camera, cruise control, dynamics and traction control. Tire pressure monitoring is an additional feature available in this car. The optional features include intelligent braking assistance and the forward collision warning system.

Competitors:

Maserati Levante

We have got Levante from Maserati as the competitor of Infiniti QX70. Well, Levante is expensive but it has strong performance and a more luxurious interior. While the exterior design of both the cars is certainly the same.

If we had to pick between Levante and QX70, we would have gone for QX70. But the off-road capabilities of this car must have changed our mind. And like us, it can even change your mind to go for a different car.
