Some small cars are just meant for the economy and low fuel consumption. And when color is added to them, they make the day real fresh. While if you bring in some savvy features and convenience, that car becomes a blessing.

Well, there had been a lot of successful small cars in the history. And the Japanese along with the Europeans have focused to build the smart small cars. They are smart in the sense that they can save a good amount of money for fueling. And their maintenance cost is certainly low enough to adjust your budget easily.

Among the smart small cars, we have the Citroen C1. It was designed by the Peugeot and Toyota. As part of a deal, the Citroen C1 was also available as the Peugeot 107. But soon after 2014, the 107 was discontinued. Further, the Toyota even uses the C1 as Aygo. And the Aygo could be found in a number of European, Australian and African markets.

This Citroen C1 was introduced in 2005 during the Geneva Motor Show. Later it was sent to the production lines and lately, in the same year, it was launched in the commercial market. The C1 received a positive response in the market. And most of its fame was based on its less fuel consumption and lower maintenance cost. Well, this was the first generation that carried on till 2014.

The second generation C1 was displayed at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The design, interior, and performance were much different than the first generation. Well, the present day C1 is available in 5 different models. And the base version, C1 Touch begins from $12,372. While the finest C1 Flair Edition could be acquired for $17,123.

A pretty intuitive kind of drivetrain is available for the Citroen C1. It is not only a fuel-saving mechanism or has the lower maintenance cost, it even is an environment-friendly machine. The first generation was not this much impressive. But the present C1 has some nice effect on the folks.

Well, the base version is available with the 1.0 inline 3-cylinder engine. It is a pretty decent companion when you are looking for economy. Further, this powertrain has 71 hp of power with 69 lb-ft of torque. That is certainly a fine combination when you prefer an everyday car that can save you a lot on your budget. Ahead of that, this C1 is the EU5 certified car with an average CO2 exhaust of 88 g/km.

If you prefer power and performance, then C1 could be acquired with the 1.2 L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine. This powertrain gets 108 horses to deliver a decent power. Further, the 1.2 L C1 is a Euro 6 car with a pretty decent CO2 exhaustion.

Both of these drivetrains come mated with the 5-speed manual transmission. Ahead of that, an optional 5-speed automatic transmission is also available. The shift management is pretty nice in this car, especially with the manual gearbox. Even the automatic transmission does a good job in balancing torque.

The Citroen C1 is just another hatchback in the market with the standard design. The costume does not have anything special in it. It gets the steel wheels, halogen and projector headlamps and a long radio antenna. At the rear, the upshift spoiler is included in the design.

The options include the alloy wheels and the roof graphic available in four different designs. Further, there is nothing more available for this car.

Interior:

There is a lot to complain about the sitting space in this car. The front row is cool, but do not expect any mercy in the rear row. Cloth seats with the black fiber trim are standard. While the accent color could be opted as per your choice.

The trunk offers a decent space to carry the groceries and other stuff. But if you need to carry the luggage and some stuff for a journey, you would have to use the rear row as the cargo career.

Features:

Features of 2018 Citroen C1

The technical specs are subtle to make your journey enjoyable. The C1 get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the multimedia options. The system gets the reverse view camera as standard. While the optional features include navigation, telephony and the smartphone connectivity. Along with that, the radio and the music streaming is available for this car.

Well, there is no Android Auto or the Apple CarPlay. You would certainly have to survive without the ultimate apps.

The Citroen C1 has some handy safety features included. It gets 6 airbags and adjustable seatbelts. Further, it comes with the electronic stability control, the speed limiter and the tire pressure monitoring system.

Ahead of that, the optional safety features include the active braking system and the lane monitoring system. Well, it is a pretty safe car to drive, especially when you have kids on board.

Volkswagen Up

Considering a European to challenge a European is an ideal option. Well, here we have the Volkswagen Up as the competitor of the Citroen C1. Theoretically, these vehicles are pretty much same. But the Up has a strong market in Asia and South America. While C1 has fame in Europe.

Overall, the C1 is the perfect option if you are looking for a fuel saving car. And if you even prefer lower maintenance cost, then the C1 is certainly a good choice.
