Overview:

2018 Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport

Some cars are just made for a bold statement. They are generally the brand ambassadors, representing a certain series. More or less, it is a marketing technique through which a certain series is marketed. And often, these are the Limited Editions. Well, the history is a bit different. Even in the present, we get such examples that cars are built only on demand. But the concept which Jaguar has started to follow just a few years back is mainly concerned with the marketing strategy.

The Jaguar F-Type has earned some fame in the market of grand tourers. But, it is still not ranked among the best grand touring cars. Though it has decent specs and a variety of exterior and interior designing options. But still, it is sitting at par.

In 2017, Jaguar announced that they would be launching a limited edition of the F-Type. Particularly, it is to emphasize the importance of the F-Type among the tour lovers. But mainly, it is to raise the gross sales for this series.

A number of changes have been made in the standard F-Type version for this car. The performance, exterior design, and the interior have been improvised for this version. Indeed, it is yet another relic from Jaguar.

The inclusions are pretty fine. And it seems like Jaguar would certainly hit its targets with this car. Though it already is doing well with the SVR. But that is just limited to the sporting edition of this series.

When the competition is all about grand tours, then why just sit back and stay relegated. Well, the F-Type 400 Sport begins from $89,500 and could go above 100 grands. David Beckham would have also promoted this car if it would have been based in China.

Performance:

Hood of 2018 Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport

The Jaguar F-type begins with the 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine. But the major domain of this series is the V-engine. Well, the F-Type 400 Sport gets the 3.0 L V6 Supercharged engine. It is the same used in the F-type R. But the only difference is the tuning.

Here this engine gets 20 more horses than the F-Type R. While the torque is same. Well, this powertrain is matted with the 8-speed quick shift automatic transmission. The same transmission goes for the base version with 4-Cylinders.

Though it is a quick shift, we would still miss the manual. A V6 without a manual is like a park without flowers.

The Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport is a sports car. And its performance is really a clear evidence for its category. Jaguar says that F-Type 400 takes 4.8 seconds to launch from 0-60 mph. Well, if that is the case, then GranTurismo and F-Type 400 Sport has a minimal difference. But we would negate Jaguar as in our tests it went 0.1 seconds faster than the stated time.

The track record differs from every venue. Not all of the tracks are straight enough to cast the fastest speed of a car. Indeed, you need art of driving and freeway to do that. But make sure you drive safely.

During the test drive, we F-Type 400 Sport to its max speed of 171 mph. Though it was not completely 171, it was certainly 171 mph.

Speeding is not everything. You even need the steering wheel to drive a car. Well, when it comes to the handling, the 400 Sport sings a pretty sweet song. It seems like it is gliding on the road. And its Carbon Brakes are quite sharp in stopping this car.

There are some minimal changes in the design. Like the hood, placement is different than the rest of the models. Along with that, the 20-inch alloy wheels carry a different design. And the aerodynamic application is the same. Under the wind tunnel, it bears the similar result like the other cars of this series. Besides the color, roof material could even be altered. You can choose from aluminum, carbon fiber and glass. Ahead of that, there are several options available to customize the exterior.

Well, in a way it even resembles the Maserati GranTurismo. But that is just the coincidence. They both are the different cars from different manufacturers.

Competitors:

Maserati GranTurismo

We found the Maserati GranTurismo to be the closest competitor of the F-Type 400 Sport on the basis of performance. Otherwise, the F-Type 400 Sport has a lot of comforts and a dynamic exterior design.

The Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport is a class apart. It is really difficult to find such a complete car. And even the price is quite reasonable as compared to its features.
